What Is MidiArt?

MIDIART is a computer freeware application that creates a totally new audio-visual experience on today's personal computers. It allows you, for the first time, to actually "see" MIDI music on your PC as you are listening to it. It does this by converting the musical events pre-recorded in standard MIDI files, into visual events on the computer screen in real time. MIDIART performs a continuous musical to visual transformation. The result of this transformation is beautiful psychedelic computer graphic images which flow in synchronization with the MIDI based music.

A MIDIART performance or MidiWork, (MIDI music AND graphics) is a single file that can be both viewed and listened to by anyone with a Windows or Windows95 PC. This is the concept behind the new MIDIWorks Player program.

The original MidiArt Live program created executable MidiWork.EXE files that you would run to play back a performance. In order to make web downloads a lot safer, MidiArt now supports a new MidiWork.MWK data file format. The new DATA ONLY format eliminates the possibility that a virus or other dangerous program could hurt your computer. The files are more compact, and should be distributed on a web page as a .ZIP Download.

There is also a conversion program that will convert your existing .EXE's to the new .MWK format. Now we can all enjoy our MidiArt, without having to worry about the bad guys out there..... and you have no excuse to avoid trying this great freeware product!

The demo frame rate is a little slow, and won't quite keep up with the audio,

but it will give you an excellent idea of what MidiArt Live can do.

The actual playback of the MidiArt.MWK file is Full Screen in Real-Time!

To view these MidiWorks, You will need to install the FREE MidiWorks Player.

(See Bottom of This Page for Info on where to get it.)

Click on a Link to download a File.

After selecting a link, select the "Save File" option in your Web browser program. Then save the MIDIWork.ZIP files in any directory on your hard disk. After the files are saved, sign off and un-zip the MIDIWork files using PK-ZIP or Win-ZIP. Your browser may already have a helper app to do this for you automatically when you sign off.

After you un-zip them, open them with Windows File Manager or Windows Explorer (just double click on the .MWK file you downloaded). They won't play if you don't have the new version of the player installed! MidiArt is not a browser plug-in. It is a FREE program that you can use to create or view MidiWorks off-line.
